What Will Happen To My Insurance If I’m Banned For Totting Up?

A totting up or TT99 ban is issued when a driver has accrued 12 or more points within three years. A TT99 endorsement must stay on your licence for four years from the date of conviction.

The length of a totting-up ban can vary, depending on the discretion of the court and the seriousness of the motoring offences involved.

Once a ban is spent, you must reapply for a driver’s licence, and if that is approved, you can purchase car insurance and look forward to getting back on the road.

While the TT99 endorsement will remain on your licence for four years, you must declare it to your insurer for five years.

Having an endorsement on your licence will inevitably increase the cost of your car insurance; however, Insurance Revolution specialises in finding affordable coverage for convicted drivers, so we can always find you a competitive deal.

We are able to do this because we have taken the time to build close working relationships with many of the UK’s leading insurers. This means we have access to policies that many other brokers don’t and can negotiate a great rate on behalf of our customers.
